Luther Louis Havis' Obituary
Mr. Luther Louis Havis was born December 25, 1919 to the late Willis Havis and Menzie Doss Havis in Kirbytown. Alabama. He departed this life on January 16, 2015 at Highlands Health and Rehab.
Luther Havis confessed his faith in Christ at an early age. He attended the St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Scottsboro. He also attended church with his late brother, Rev. Charles Havis, in Fackler. Alabama.
Luther Havis was a former employee of Harbin Motor Company in Scottsboro for several years. He later changed his career to work at a gas company in Chattanooga, Tennessee. While in Chattanooga, he met and married now the late Geraldine Owens. Upon his retirement, the couple returned to Scottsboro and became active in the community. They loved people, cultivated friends from all works of life, and touched the lives of those they encountered.
He leaves to cherish his memories the oldest living relative on his mother's side (Menzie Doss). Odell Johnson; a host of cousins on his father's side (Willis Havis); a devoted caregiver, Margaret Johnson (Vernite Johnson); a special friend, Linda Green and Family; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Rudder Funeral Home Chapel in Scottsboro. The Family will receive friends from 10 – 11 A.M. Officiating the services for Mr. Havis will be Bro. Edward Woods. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Scottsboro.
