Marvin Reed Meeker, 81 of Stevenson, Alabama, died August 18, 2015 at his home. Marvin was the son of the late John Reed and Lillie Holbrooks Meeker born November 6, 1933 in Stevenson, Alabama. He was a Stevenson High School Graduate Class of 1951. Mr. Meeker was a U.S. Army Veteran. He had worked in quality control at Wheland Foundry in Chattanooga, TN and owned Meeker Body Shop and Salvage. Marvin was a member of First Baptist Church and Bolivar Masonic Lodge.
Besides his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his son Thomas Reed Meeker, and sister Inez Evans.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years Janet Carter Meeker; children: Jane Meeker White of IN, Brenda Kaye Meeker, Samanda Reed Meeker both of Stevenson, AL, Susie (Steve) Collins of South Pittsburg, TN; grandchildren: Jason Clark McCrary, Jessica Reed (Shun McDonald) Meeker, Benjamin Thomas White, Matthew Reed White, Chris Collins; great-grandchildren: Makayla McMurray, Mykel Reed Meeker, Nahshon and Amira McDonald, Brilan and Makayla White, Lakelyn, Maelah, and Taylor Collins; sister Juanita (Brooks) Bell of GA.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, August 19, at 2 PM at the Rudder Funeral Home Chapel in Stevenson, AL officiated by Rev. J.B. Jones, Rev. Josh Posey and Tim McCoy. Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard will present military honors. Interment will be in Stevenson City Cemetery. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com
