Mary Alice Stewart Harrison's Obituary
Mary Alice Stewart Harrison 99 of Scottsboro, died Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Highlands Medical Center.
Visitation is 1-3 PM, Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Scottsboro.
Funeral services will be immediately after visitation at 3 pm, also at the church. Dr. Roy Hall will officiate and interment will be at Cedar Hill.
Mary Alice was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, also a member of the Pilot Club,
and one of the first women Elders in the church. Mary was a third grade teacher in Jackson County School System. Later she worked for many years as a clerk at McCamy’s Drug Store.
She is survived by grandson, Hugh (Gina Womack) Jefferson Stewart, III, grandson, Patrick (Lauren
Warr) Christopher Stewart, granddaughter, Deborah (Lynn) Stewart Tubbs, great-grandson; Mr. David Scott Stewart, great-great-granddaughter, Addison Brook Stewart, great-granddaughter; Laurie Ashlynn Tubbs, great-grandson; Cohen Stewart Tubbs, great-granddaughter, Ava Catherine Stewart, great-granddaughter, Chloe Elizabeth Stewart, great-grandson, Mason Baily Stewart, great-step grandson, Ethan Roberts. great-step grandson, Jeremy (Julie) Tubbs, great-step-granddaughter, Melissa (Christian)Lodde.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents, James Edward Tipton and Fannie Mae Murphree Tipton, first husband, Hugh Jefferson Stewart, Sr., son, Hugh Jefferson Stewart, Jr., and second husband, Clifton Melvin Harrison, brothers; Robert L., Baily R. and Houston M. Tipton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Scottsboro.
