Mary Kathrine Cobb age 93 passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 10-11:00AM at Morning Star Baptist Church in Stevenson. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM and burial will follow in the Stevenson Community Cemetery.

Mary Katherine Cobb was born on May 29, 1930 to the late Houston and Emma Cobb. Mary Katherine was the third of three children born to this union. Her sister Evelyn and brother William proceeded her in death.
Mary Katherine loved her family she stood by both of her parents until death. Her farther Houston told her before his death to make sure she helped her brother William and his wife Rosa “see about Kathy and Billy” that was her life mission until death.
Mary Katherine loved her church and served many rolls over the years at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. She served over 20 plus years as the church secretary and clerk, Sunday school and BTU secretary, Senior and Mass choir and lead singer, Mary also served on the building fund committee and along with many other members worked tirelessly to see Morning Star build a new church home in the year 1984. Along with her brother William, and friends Benjamin Jackson Jr., Katherine Bynum, P.L. Bynum, Willie H. Cole and others they formed their very own singing group and would travel the Tennessee valley singing Gods praise.
Mary loved spending time in her garden. Mary would often plant onions, beets, corn, okra, squash, lettuce, tomatoes, beans, peppers, turnips greens, and cucumbers. In fact one year Mary Katherine boast of harvesting a 4.5 pound head of lettuce. Mary and some of her friends would often compete to see who could raise the grandest crop.
Mary’s civic duties include working the Jackson County voting location in Stevenson. Heading the cancer drive in Stevenson one year was an honor.
Her memories will forever be cherished by her niece Kathy Cobb and nephew William III and niece Renee. A host of cousins and many friends. Special cousin Mrs. Juanita Collier, special friends Mrs. Celia Walker and family and Mrs. Rosie Jolly.
