Ms. Mary Virginia Loyd's Obituary
Mary Virginia Loyd passed away on December 23, 2015, at the age of 95.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Bell and son-in law, Rodney Bell; a brother, Bill Freeman and sister-in-law, Pat Freeman. Mrs. Loyd was preceded in death by her husband, David Loyd; parents, Irene and Will Freeman; brother, Tom Freeman; and her first husband Newman Frazier. She was lovingly cared for for over five years by four special ladies; Kisha Gross, Christie Schaublin, Lauretta Winters, and Ashley Grissom.
Mary Virginia Loyd lived in Bridgeport for over 45 years. She and David owned and operated Loyd’s (ladies apparel shop) in South pittsburg, TN, until their retirement in the late 1980s. Prior to her marriage to David, she lived and worked in Scottsboro at the then Jackson County Hospital. She was a member of the Bridgeport Literary Club, the South Pittsburg Garden Club, and the Bridgeport Church of Christ.
Her last weeks on earth were made comfortable by the expert and willing care of New Beacon Hospice.
The funeral will be held at Rudder Funeral Home in Scottsboro at 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 26, 2015 with Mr. Roger Comstock officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 PM immediately prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Freeman Cemetery Fund, 2645 Woods Cove Road, Scottsboro, AL 35768.
