Mary Ruth Summers Peacock, 76 of Bridgeport, went to be with Jesus Sunday, February 27, 2011. Mary was the daughter of the late George Washington and Janie Roberts Summers born November 11, 1934 in Stevenson, AL. Mrs. Peacock had worked as a custodian at Bridgeport Elementary School and was a member of New Hope Church of God in New Hope, TN.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Peacock was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Carl Lenard Peacock; siblings: John M. Summers, Glen Summers, Richard Summers, Pleas Summers, Dorothy Summers, and Annie Lee Johnson.
Survivors include her children: Dathard Peacock, Karen (Don) Haggard, Cathy (William) Denney, Ronnie (Brenda) Peacock all of Bridgeport, AL; granddaughters: Shelley Haggard, Laura (Jeremy) Rowe, Amy Denney, Ashley Denney, April Peacock all of Bridgeport; grandsons: Brian (Fallon) Peacock of South Pittsburg, TN, Mark Haggard of Columbus, GA, Eric Peacock of Bridgeport; great-grandchildren: Reid Peacock, Jana Peacock, Lilly Rowe, Lucas Rowe; brothers: Bill Summers of Bridgeport, Ed Summers of Stevenson; sisters: Fannie Sanders of Hollywood, AL, Jewel Culver of Bridgeport, Bea Wilkerson of Chicago, IL, Alice Summers and Gladys Stewart both of Stevenson, Janice Seale of New Hope, TN; a host of other relatives.
Visitation will be Monday 6-9 PM and Tuesday 10 AM-9 PM CST at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral will be Wednesday, March 2, at 11 AM at the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Bud Guess and Rev. Mayburn Guess. Interment will be at the Longacre Cemetery in Stevenson, AL www.rudderfuneralhomes.com.
