Miller Newton Guess' Obituary
Newton Guess passed away on January 21, 2026, in Huntsville, Alabama. Born on September 29, 1945, in Stevenson, Alabama, he lived all 80 years of his life on the same farm where he was born. The oldest of six children, Newton spent his childhood years helping on the farm, and this work instilled in him a love of agriculture, which he carried throughout his life and career. After graduating from Stevenson High School, he began a hardworking career that led him to own multiple small businesses and eventually allowed him to incorporate his agricultural interests. He soon became an expert in all things related to farm equipment, and friends and other businesspeople in the area relied on him for his tractor knowledge and advice. Newton’s businesses also allowed him to serve the town of Stevenson and the people of the community he loved. He genuinely cared about people and took the time to learn about them. He could recite the family tree of almost everyone in town. Newton was a big man with a big heart who lead an exemplary life focused on faith, family, and community. “Bigfoot” will forever be a Stevenson legend. He is preceded in death by his parents, Miller and Lela Katherine Guess. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Angela; daughter, Katie (Chandler); siblings, James Edward Guess, Elizabeth Guess, David Guess (Mitzi), Sheila Jackson, and Wayne Guess (Phyllis); and many nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him forever.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 26, 2026 from 5-8:00PM at Rudder Funeral
