Nancy Towery Lamb's Obituary
Nancy Ann Towery Lamb passed from this life on September 18, 2017. She was born on June 12, 1949, in Huntsville, Alabama to Roy G. Towery and Ida Marie Thomas Towery, both deceased. She is survived by her two younger siblings, Joe Towery, recently of Owens Cross Roads, and Janice Towery Hendrix, of Huntsville. Siblings who she cherished as adults but during her childhood she wondered how long it would take her parents to notice one was missing if he were pushed from the moving vehicle because he wouldn’t stop aggravating her and if the other one really need both hands because she purposefully shook the bed to annoy her.
Nancy met and married a US Navy sailor, Jimmy Lamb, of Huntsville, and had two daughters, Joy Lamb Rogenski (Shane) of Huntsville and Kimberly Lamb Snodgrass (Mark) of Woodville. Daughters who loved, respected and admired their mother and who cannot begin fill her size 5 high heels. She was blessed with four perfect grandchildren, Kelley Campbell (Austin), Justin Rogenski, Jimmy Lamb Snodgrass, and Hannah Snodgrass. Nancy leaves behind the smartest one year old who ever lived, her great grandson, Garrett Campbell. Nancy was always a devout servant of God. She played the piano for her parents and siblings in the gospel singing group The Towery Family. Every time the church doors were open Nancy was there signing, playing and worshiping her Savior. For a few years Nancy pastored a small country church in Brownsboro, Pleasant Church of God of Prophecy. Nancy was a creative, dedicated, hardworking, fun loving, humble, gift from God. During her lifetime she wore many hats. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, pastor, friend, substitute teacher, office manager and entrepreneur. But the title she liked most was a follower of Christ. The best way Nancy’s family could honor her memory is to celebrate her life. There will be no funeral services nor will there be a graveside service as Nancy’s wish was to be cremated. Nancy’s celebration of life will be Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. at Clear Creek Church of God in Paint Rock Valley, 560 County Road 1, Paint Rock, Alabama with Pastor Floyd Wilson presiding. Only happy tears please. After many appointments with several different specialists, Nancy was diagnosed in July, 2017 with Bile Duct Cancer. Her battle with Cancer was short but brutal. The highlight of her days during her battle with cancer was receiving the mail. Nancy made cards; to be more specific angels cards for Lamb and Ewe Handcrafted Gifts. She mailed cards regularly, not just for birthdays but just to let people know she was thinking of them. Usually she included a smiley face. Even during her last illness Nancy continued to mail cards. In lieu of flowers the family requests you send a cancer patient a card. If you do not know someone suffering from cancer Lamb and Ewe Handcrafted Gifts will gladly forward your card to someone. Cards will be collected at Nancy’s celebration of life. My sister and I wish to thank mom’s physicians, family, friends, and Clear Creek Church of God for the calls, visits, food, flowers, cards and love poured on our mother during the last year. You made this last journey tolerable for us. We can never thank you enough. We want to give special thanks to Alacare Hospice in Scottsboro. Her final days would not have been as peaceful had you not provided such loving support. – Kim Snodgrass
