Nancy JoAnn Purdy Tanner, 82 of Bridgeport, AL, died November 17, 2016 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. Nancy was the daughter of the late George Arthur and Gertrude Gamble Purdy born September 18, 1934 in Stevenson, AL. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Bridgeport. Nancy had worked as an inspector in a garment factory in Bridgeport.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Robert Tanner; siblings: Boyd Purdy, Barrion "BG" Purdy, Kathleen Rankin, Barbara Hill, and Georgia Marie Bellomy.
She is survived by her son Jimmy (Robyn) Tanner of Murfreesboro, TN; granddaughters: Whitney (Matthew) Howland of Manchester, TN, Brenna Tanner of Murfreesboro, TN; great-grandchildren: Hunter and Ava Howland and Landon Higginbotham; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends Saturday, 10 AM-12 Noon CST at the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport. The Funeral Service will begin at 12 Noon CST on Saturday, November 19, at the church officiated by Rev. Houston Thomas.
