Norma Jean Walker Propst, 74 of Fort Payne, AL and formerly of Scottsboro, AL died August 11, 2008 at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL. She taught English at schools in Bridgeport, AL, Dixon Co., TN, Northwest Shoals Community College and retired from Northeast Alabama Community College. Mrs. Propst was a member of Fort Payne Church of Christ and Delta Kappa Gamma. Norma had a Masters Degree from University of Alabama.
Mrs. Propst was preceded in death by her husband William Donald Propst; parents Henderson Cooper and Lucy Elizabeth Crownover Walker; brothers: H.C. Walker and Stanley Walker.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jeannie and Matt Woods of Fort Payne, AL; grandson Blake Woods; brother and sister-in-law John J. and Ann Walker of Bridgeport, AL, niece Beth Bean of Bridgeport, AL; nephews: Russell (Teresa) Walker of Bridgeport, AL, Mike (Jeanne) of HI, David Walker of Fort Payne, AL; great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 5-8 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport, AL. The funeral will be Wednesday, August 13, at 1 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport, AL officiated by Bro. Randy Mead. Interment will be in the Walker Family Cemetery in Bridgeport.
Donations may be made in memory of Norma Propst to the Beau Bean Memorial Scholarship Fund or Fanning Fund at Lipscomb University, One University Dr., Nashville, TN 37204.
