Ray Kirkendoll Janney, 87 of Stevenson, AL, died May 31, 2013 at his home. Ray was a graduate of Bridgeport High School Class of 1942. He was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran and retired agent operator with CSX Railroad. Mr. Janney served as Mayor of Bridgeport, AL for 12 years, was a city council member for 4 years and owned and operated Bridgeport's Dairy Bar for 30 years. He was a 50-year member of Alhambra Shrine and 50-year plus member of Bridgeport Masonic Lodge 943.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents John K. and Hazel Hickey Janney; sister Dot Janney Jacob.
Survivors include his wife Doris Ann Newton Janney; children: Robert Janney, Diane Vaughn, Lisa Grabusky; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister Betty Don Irvin.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 2, 4-8 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport, AL.
The funeral service will be Monday, June 3, at 2 PM CDT at the funeral home chapel
officiated by Rev. Bill Stone and Bro. Randy Smith. Interment and Military Honors will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 4, at 1 PM CDT (2 PM ET)
