Raymond "Ray" Pendergrass' Obituary
Raymond Edwin Pendergrass, age 79 of Scottsboro, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Highlands Medical Center in Scottsboro. Mr. Pendergrass was a Charter member of Bible Baptist Church and served as a chaplain with the Rock of Ages Prison Ministries beginning in 2001. In 1960 Mr. Pendergrass began work at Angwin Mortuary Center in Ensley, AL serving others in their time of need and retired from the funeral industry in 2000 after working for Rudder Funeral Home 16 years.
Visitation services will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2012 from 5-8pm at Rudder Funeral Home in Scottsboro and Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Bible Baptist Church from 2-3pm. Funeral services will begin at 3pm from Bible Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Baker, Bro. Johnny Nix, and Bro. Gene Voss officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Scottsboro.
Mr. Pendergrass is survived by: Son, Gordon “Dump” (Susan) Beavers, Dutton, AL; Grandchildren, Rachel Draine, Tina Letchworth, Tony Lemons; Great Grandchildren, Brendan Thompson, Maggie Draine, Nathan Trotman, Alan Haswell, Dustin Lemons; 3 Great-Great Grandchildren; Brothers, Claude (Lora) Pendergrass, Haskel Pendergrass, RJ (Gaynell) Pendergrass, Ralph Pendergrass; Sisters, Peggy (Jack) Goodwin, Sybil (Joe) Rudder; 11 nieces and nephews; 27 Great nieces and nephews; Special friend, Bill Baker.
Mr. Pendergrass in preceded in death by: Wife, Magdalene and Parents, J.B. and Gurdie Pendergrass.
