Rev. John Douglas Ivey, 85 of Stevenson, AL died January 13, 2015 at the home of his daughter in Fultondale, Alabama. John was the son of the late Jonah Lorenzo and Lillie Evett Ivey born July 16, 1929 in Stevenson, AL. He had worked at Avondale and Shaw Industries as well as having pastored several local churches. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Jessie Lee Arnold Ivey; siblings: Mary Grider, Ernest Ivey and James Ivey; grandson Stephen Dale Creel.
Survivors include: his children: Brenda (Dale) Creel, Deborah "Deby" Talley, Jerry Ivey, Teresa Ivey; grandchildren: Adam & Alison Creel, David & Amanda Talley, Scott & Heather Talley, John Paul & Ali Creel, Jeremy W. Ivey; great-grandchildren: Audrey, Anna, Adeline Creel, Drake, Braden, Tyler Talley, Madison Carter, Harper & Jace Talley, Josiah & Maggi Creel, Sybil & Jeremiah Ivey; siblings: Virgil Ivey, Kenneth Ivey, Mattie Ivey, Ruby Wilkerson, Ruth Rorex; extended Arnold Family and a host of other relatives.
Visitation will be Friday 3-8 PM at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 17, at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. David Talley, Rev. Dale Creel and Rev. Fred Porter. Interment will be in the Longacre Cemetery. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com
