Roxie Ella Mae Thompson Wooden, 85 of Stevenson, AL, died February 24, 2011 at her home. Roxie was the daughter of the late Charlie and Nora Whitaker Thompson born April 26, 1925 in Martintown, Alabama in Jackson County. She had worked at South Pittsburg Knitting Co. as a sock drier.
Survivors include her children: Mary Katheren (Greg) Pounders, A. C. Wooden, Jr.; former husband A.C. Wooden, Sr. all of Stevenson, AL; grandchildren: Amy (Jeff) Watson of South Pittsburg, TN, Matthew (Tammy) Thomas of South Pittsburg, TN, Holly (Mike) Hathcock of Stevenson, AL, Jonathan (Stephanie) Pounders of Evansville, IN, Amanda Wooden of Stevenson, AL, Christopher (Melinda) Wooden of Pisgah, AL, Jason (Lorie) Wooden of Pisgah, AL;15 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Shirley Thomas of South Pittsburg, TN, and other relatives.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Wooden was preceded in death by her children: Roy Lee Thomas, Nancy Wooden and Sally Jo Wooden; four brothers and one sister.
