Roy Benford "Ben" McCrary, 83 of Bridgeport, AL, died April 5, 2013 at Cumberland Health and Rehabilitation. Roy was the son of the late Carl Buford and Addie Pearl Matthews McCrary born August 20, 1929 in Stevenson, Alabama. He had worked as a machinist at South Pittsburg Knitting Mill. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Besides his parents, "Ben" was preceded in death by his daughter Donna McCrary; son Ben Jr.; three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years Emma Ray Eakin McCrary of Bridgeport, AL; children: Johnny (Faye) McCrary of Bridgeport; Regina (Alvin) Mershon of Stevenson, AL; Barbara Bridges of Scottsboro, AL; grandchildren: Jennifer (Brandon) Gray, Lynn Farmer, Natasha Mershon, Carley (Stephen) Hibbs, Jason Mershon, Matthew (Courtney) McCrary; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters: Charlsie McCallie of Stevenson, Peggy (Leonard) Durham of Bridgeport; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Saturday, 5-9 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral service will be Sunday, April 7, at 2 PM CDT at the funeral home chapel officiated by Bro. Ronnie Case. Interment will be in the Rocky Springs Cemetery in Bridgeport, AL. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com.
