Ruby Mae Stubblefield Golightly Garner, 88 of Sherwood, TN, died January 30, 2013. Ruby was born in Sinking Cove (Franklin County) Tennessee on September 19, 1924 to Charlie Francis and Nellie Louella Burks Stubblefield. Ruby was a graduate of Stevenson High School in Stevenson, AL and Erlanger Hospital School of Nursing in Chattanooga, TN. She also received a B.A. degree from The University of South Florida and a M.A. degree from Middle Tennessee State University. She taught school in both Florida and Tennessee.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Thomas Golightly and Larkin Garner; sons: Thomas, Jr. and William Golightly; and brother Charlie Stubblefield, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter Katherine (Frank) Berkhan; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sisters: Pauline Hawes, Evelyn Morris, Parie Lee Whitely; and brother Austin Stubblefield.
Visitation will be Thursday 5-9 PM CT at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral will be Friday, February 1, at 11:30 AM CT at the funeral home chapel officiated by Randolph Gonce followed by burial at Cumberland Cemetery. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com
