Ruby Edna Lovejoy's Obituary
Ruby Edna Lovejoy, 92, was born in Bridgeport, AL on December 22, 1924, to John T. and Rosie Howard Helton and she passed away July 8, 2017, 14 days after her brother, Charles Helton passed away. In her early years, Edna enjoyed cooking, traveling, family get togethers and especially singing with other family members. She was a generous and giving person.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband Ray C. Lovejoy; parents; 7 brothers and 4 sisters.
She is survived by her son, Ronnie Lee Duran, wife Judy (whom she considered more of a daughter than a daughter-in-law), 4 grandchildren: Ron (Charlene) Duran, Jennifer (Mike) DeFreest, Janet Duran and Kristy Galyon; and 9 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Kathleen Helton, a special nephew, Wayne Gothard of Hixson, TN, with whom she had a special bond in their younger days where he was stationed in California while in the Navy. She has several other nephews, nieces and special friends whom she cherished and her special joy in life, her dog "Baby".
The Family would like to thank Cumberland Health and Rehab Nursing Home and New Beacon Hospice for their care and compassion. A special thank you to Sheila Thomas for the love, support and care she gave Edna throughout the last year. Also, the family would like to thank the many special friends from First Baptist Church in Bridgeport who always brought her special food and other gifts, as well as their visits, prayers and love.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 11, 2017, from 12 to 2 PM CDT with the service to follow at 2 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home, Bridgeport, AL. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, South Pittsburg, TN. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com
