Sheila Marie Heckel Shelton's Obituary
Sheila Marie Heckel Shelton, age 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 25, 2021, in Scottsboro, Alabama. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana January 7, 1950, to Jacob and Valerie Heckel. She was the second oldest of their ten children. Before moving to Alabama in 1998, she was a beloved Montessori school teacher and recently retired after 20+ years as a front-end manager at the Scottsboro Walmart.
Sheila had a love for all things nature and knowledge and great empathy for people and animals. She had a passion for helping others and made lasting positive impacts in people's lives. She was influential, unconventional, worldly, funny, and truly unique. Sheila was an exceptional mother, teacher, and an open-minded friend to all. She is loved by so many and will be forever missed.
Sheila is survived by her daughter Sarah Shelton-Houser, granddaughter Remy Houser, brothers Mark and Tim, sisters Debbie, Gerri, Mary, Catherine, Joanne, and Terese, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
