Shelia Ann Traut's Obituary
Sheila Ann Traut, née Ludeke, passed away on February 15, 2026, in Scottsboro, Alabama, at the age of 68. Born on August 9, 1957, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Sheila was preceded in death by father Ralph Ludeke and mother Betty Westermeyer. Survived by her brother Rick Ludeke and her step-father Marty Westermeyer. Sheila is also survived by Anna Murray (Jake) and Jennifer Bennett (Drew) who loved her like a mother, and their children Hunter Murray, Charlotte Murray, Sophia Bennett, Daphne Bennett, and Ryder Bennett. She was also survived by her loyal service dog Dory.
Sheila served in the Ohio Army National Guard. She was a licensed phlebotomist and lab tech and later a love of animals lead her to become a dog groomer. She had a passion for sailing and kayaking; she felt most at peace on or around the water. Sheila also valued wellness and mindfulness, dedicating time to practicing and teaching yoga and pilates.
Those who knew Sheila remember her as uniquely creative, a sailor, a great friend to many, a devoted wife, mother, aunt, a spiritual soul, a teacher of many things, and a voice that loved to laugh. Her warmth, humor, and generosity left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing her.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Funeral Service will be held on March 2, 2026, at St Luke Episcopal Church 402 S Scott St. Scottsboro AL, Visitation at 10:00 AM, Service at 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Life will follow in Cincinnati OH at a date and location to be determined.
