Sybil Doris Knox's Obituary
Sybil Doris Baxter Knox of Montgomery passed away January 27, 2018. She was born in Ashville, Alabama on February 17, 1924. She is preceded in death by her husband, Allen Luckey Knox Jr., her parents, Carl Q. Baxter and Mary (Fletcha) D. Baxter, and her sister, Joyce B. Plaster.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita K Berry, sons Dan(Sheila) and Ben Knox, grandchildren Amanda Medlin(Steve), Becky Berry, Danielle Hutcheson(Cortney), Leslie Knox, Allen and Jessica Knox, great- grandchildren Conner, Mia, Sawyer Medlin, Gabriel Berry, Killian Hutcheson, and two nephews.
She graduated from Etowah High School (Ashville) and The University of Alabama. She also attended Peabody University (Nashville), Appalachian State University (Boone, NC) and Auburn University.
She was a retired teacher, having taught in Northport, Attalla, Stevenson, and Montgomery (Sydney Lanier High School), and Nashville, TN.
She was a devoted member of Trinity Presbyterian Church for 55 years, serving as a member of WIC, Bloodworth Sunday School class, Missions Committee, on mission trips, and various other volunteer services. She worked as a volunteer for Sav-A-Life (First Choice) for several years.
She was also a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, University of Alabama Alumni Association, Alabama Education Association, and Kappa Kappa Iota professional sorority.
The graveside service will be held in Stevenson, Al February 4, 2018, at 4:30 p.m., Stevenson City Cemetery, with visitation 3:00-4:00 p.m., Rudder Funeral Home.
There will be a Memorial Service February 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity
Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, AL, with visitation at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Montgomery Christian School, First Choice, Trinity Presbyterian Church, or National Wildlife Federation.
