Sylvester "Syl" Abney Shrader, 94 of Hollywood, AL, died April 30, 2011 at Highlands Medical Center in Scottsboro, AL. Sylvester was the daughter of the late William Allen and Martha Janie Roberts Abney born November 25, 1916 in Stevenson, AL. Besides her parents, "Syl" was preceded in death by her husband Roy Carl Shrader; siblings: Edna Fisher, Billy Abney, Harvey Abney and Bessie Teas. She had worked as a spinner at a textile mill. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Fackler, AL. Survivors include her siblings: Orene Drigger of Chattanooga, TN, Louise Grider and John Abney both of Stevenson, AL, Betty Denney of Hollywood, AL, Bethel Mitchell of Scottsboro, AL; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be 5-9 PM CDT Tuesday at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral service will be 2 PM CDT on Wednesday, May 4, at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at the Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Hollywood, AL. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com.
