"Syd" Johnson, 90 of Stevenson, Alabama died February 1, 2009 at Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN.
She was a member of Stevenson Holiness Church and a retired textile worker with Avondale Mills.
Lelia Inez "Syd" Peters Johnson was preceded in death by her parents Mitt and Mae Bell Loyd Peters; first husband Robert "Pete" Potterfield; son Jack Potterfield; daughter Mary Ruth Kelley; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years James Paul Johnson; daughters and sons-in-law: Bobbye (Vernon) Barbee of Stevenson, AL, Joyce (Edward) Stewart of Scottsboro, AL, sons and daughters-in-law: Billy (Sue) Potterfield of Scottsboro, Ricky (Regina) Johnson, Gary (Rhonda) Johnson both of Stevenson, AL, sisters: Edna Pearl Ballard of Stevenson, Una Kate of Higginsville, Missouri, Louise Rowe of Bridgeport, AL; daughter-in-law Jane Potterfield of Bridgeport, AL; 23 grandchldren; 28 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 2-9 PM CST at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral will be Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 2 PM CST at the funeral home chapel officiated by Bro. Lawrence Waller. Interment will be at Cargile Cemetery in Stevenson, AL.
