Tonya Clovetta Joyner's Obituary
The all wise and just God has given rest to another one of His servants. On Monday, January 15, 2024, Tonya Clovetta Green Joyner passed this life. Toyna Green Joyner was born on November 28, 1972, to Mr. and Mrs. Melvin and Linda Green, in Scottsboro, Alabama. She graduated from Scottsboro High School in 1991. Upon graduation, she attended Brea College in Brea, Ky. She also attended Northeast Community College and the University of North Alabama where she earned her degree as a Medical Assistant in Phlebotomy. She was employed at Huntsville Hospital until her health failed.
Tonya Joyner was married to Anthony Joyner, Sr and to this union one son was born. Anthony Joyner, Jr. Tonya was a very loving and outgoing person. She loved to laugh, and she always had a smile on her face. She also loved her jobs and was an extremely hard worker.
Tonya was a loyal member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Hollywood, Al. She was a member of the choir at Mt. Zion and a former member of the youth choir at Horton’s AOH Church of God. As a toddler her father, Melvin taught her and her sisters to sing at the kitchen counter. Since then, she has been a member of numerous quartets and groups: The Green Sisters, The Voices of Faith, Renewed, The Gospel Choir at St. Paul AME., just to name a few. Tonya and her sister(s) were one of the favorites to sing at funerals, weddings, and community affairs near and far.
Tonya Joyner is preceded in death by her father Melvin Green. She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted husband Anthony Joyner, Sr, and loving a son, Anthony Joyner, Jr, stepdaughter Yolandra Joyner (Ben), Heinkel. Mother, Linda Green, 2 sisters DeUndrea King (Archie), and Sonya Green (Melvin Turner), mother-in-law, Deborah Joyner, brother-in-law, Koran Joyner, 3 nephews, Melvin Tyrelle (Karrie) McCamey, DiAnte (Jennifer) Alexander, Omoro Joyner, 1 niece, NaTonuia Harris, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 2:00 P.M., at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 3240 County Road 105, Hollywood, Alabama 35752
