Verna Louise Witt Wilson, 83 of Bridgeport, AL died March 29, 2011 at Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. Verna was the daughter of the late Jasper Harding and Malinda Jane Hurst Witt born January 13, 1928 in Bridgeport, AL. She had worked as a nurse's aide at South Pittsburg Hospital and had retired from Galaxy Carpets as a machine operator. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bridgeport.
Besides her parents, Verna was preceded in death by her husbands JB McCarver, John N. Jones, Darwin Wilson; daughter Linda Kay Jones; son John N. Jones, Jr.; and sister Billie Moon
Survivors include: daughter Janie (Willie) Seabolt of Bridgeport, AL, son Jerry (Sunun) McCarver of Rossville, GA; sisters: Bonnie Clark of Jacksonville, FL, Johnnie Pauline McCarver of Jasper, TN, Edna Kathryn (Cecil) Havner of South Pittsburg, TN; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 10 AM-9 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport, AL. The funeral service will be Thursday, March 31, at 2 PM CDT at the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. David Smith. Interment will be in the Rocky Springs Cemetery in Bridgeport. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com.
