Virginia Long Gilliam, 69 of Bridgeport, AL formerly of Bellevue, WA, died July 24, 2014. Virginia is the daughter of the late W.O. and Elizabeth Sampley Long born December 25, 1944 in Wannville, AL. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years Archie Richard Gilliam. She had worked as a Pension Executive for Boeing in Huntsville and also in Seattle. Virginia was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sisters and brothers-in-law: Mary Elizabeth (Dan R., Jr.) Vaughn, Wanda Faye (Richard) Blackwell and Brenda Gail Long all of Bridgeport, AL; nieces and nephew: Amanda Marie Vaughn Massey, Richmond (Lindsay) Blackwell, Katy Blackwell; great-nieces and nephews: Brendan, Alexandria, Jayden Massey and Meagan Blackwell; best friend Wanda Faye McCutchen; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, 4-8 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral service will be Saturday, July 26, at 1 PM CDT at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Bridgeport, AL. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com.
