Wanda Morris Crabtree

Wanda Morris Crabtree, 85, died peacefully in Birmingham, Alabama on Friday, December 23, 2011. A long-term resident of Bridgeport, she received her degrees in education from Jacksonville State University and George Peabody College. She taught elementary school in the Jackson County Board of Education for 40 years and was a lifelong member of the Bridgeport First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 50 years and served as President of the Church Choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Aubrey Crabtree. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Andrew and Ruth Martin Morris and her brother, Rev. J.B. Morris. She is survived by one son, Robert Morris (Andi) Crabtree, one new grandchild, Aubrey Forbes Crabtree, and a host of close family relatives including nieces and nephews and cousins.
Wanda served on numerous educational committees including the State of Alabama Textbook Committee and was also a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 181 in Bridgeport and the Bridgeport Literary Club and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27 from 12-2 PM with the funeral at 2 PM at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport officiated by Rev. Andy Morris. Pallbearers are: Bill Queen, Michael Head, Jim Krause, Greg Whitcher, Paul Morris and Pete Foster. Interment will be at the Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Tennessee.
