Willard Dwane Watson, 80 of Jasper, TN, passed away Friday, September 28, at the Hospice Care Center in Chattanooga, TN. He was born December 20, 1931 in Etowah, TN.
Mr. Watson was retired from TVA, where he worked at Widows Creek Fossil Plant as a Unit Operator and is a member of the First Baptist Church of Bridgeport, AL.
He was a graduate of Madisonville, TN High School and Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, TN. He held a Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting. Prior to his return to and retirement from TVA, Mr. Watson worked for a number of years as an Accountant.
Mr. Watson was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War era. Aviation remained a passion of his throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ira Bryan and Julia Ann Harris Watson, and older brother, Curtis O. Watson.
Mr. Watson is survived by his wife, Betty Bevel Watson; son Bryan Price Watson; grandson Zachary Bryan Watson and great-grandson Isaiah Christopher Watson. Additionally, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his great love of aviation, he was an avid reader and movie enthusiast. His greatest passion first and foremost was his loving and devoted family.
Visitation for family and friends will take place at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport, AL on Sunday, September 30, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. CDT. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. CDT, Monday, October 1, with additional visitation to precede at 11 a.m. CDT. Interment will take place at the Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, TN immediately following. All are invited to attend the graveside service.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Kitchen Fund of the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport, AL to help feed those who are less fortunate.
