William Harvey Abney, 94 life-long resident of Stevenson, Alabama passed away May 29, 2008 at his home. He had worked at several jobs during his lifetime, but his main work was at the cedar mill in Stevenson. He loved to fish.
Mr. Abney was preceded in death by his wife Johnnie Charles Cross Abney; son David Harold Abney; daughter Katie Jayne Thomas; parents William Allen and Martha Jane Roberts Abney.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Karen (Jackie) Chisenall; Linda (Ben) Anderson all of Stevenson, AL, Mary Upton of Armarillo, TX; 11 grandchildren; 20 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren; brother John Abney of Stevenson, AL; sisters: Bessie Teas of Chattanooga, TN, Sylvester Shrader of Wannville, AL, Louise Grider of Stevenson, AL, Orene Digger of Chattanooga, TN, Betty Jane Denny of Stevenson, AL, Bethel Faye Hammer of Scottsboro, AL; nieces, nephews and other relatives and a host of dear friends who will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be Friday, 10 AM-9 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral will be Saturday, May 31, at 2 PM CDT at the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Doyle Chamblee followed by burial at Stevenson City Cemetery.
