William "Bill" King McClendon, Jr., 69 of Hollywood, AL, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola, FL. Mr. McClendon was born May 16, 1941 in Tampa, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, William King, Sr. and Josephine Buggica McClendon along with his brother Kenneth "Kenny". Mr. McClendon leaves behind a wife of fifty years, Lynne Prescott McClendon; daughters and sons-in-law: Tammy McClendon, Tanya and Randall Barbee, Melonie and Alex King; son and daughter-in-law William "Billy" King McClendon III and Jane Matthews McClendon; grandchildren: Zachary Barbee, Dylan Barbee, Nicholas King and Darcy Rose McClendon. He is also survived by a sister Joanna McClendon; brothers and sisters-in-law: Roland and Elizabeth McClendon, Fred and Vickie McClendon; along with six nieces and nephews and many dear family members and life-long friends. Mr. McClendon retired from Delta Air Lines and a life-long career in the oil industry. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, duck hunting, and Alabama football, Jimmy Buffett music and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. McClendon was very active in Jackson County Politics, serving as Mayor of Hollywood, AL from 2000-2004. Visitation for Mr. McClendon will be Thursday, August 5, 2010 from 5-9 PM at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The funeral service will be Friday, August 6, 2010 at 11 AM at the funeral home chapel officiated by Loyd Wallace and Arnold Hope. Pallbearers will be Randall, Prince, Mac and Jay Barbee, Kenneth Matthews, Mitchell Jackson and Christopher Thomas. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many friends and family members for all the calls, prayers, visits, gifts of food and acts of kindness shown during this sad but glorious time as Mr. McClendon prepared to leave the pain of this world for a better place. Along with any floral remembrances, donations may be made in memory of William"Bill" McClendon to the Covenant Hospice at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, FL or the American Lung Association would be cherished.
