William Roy McCarter, 82 of Bridgeport, AL, died July 24, 2016 at his home. Roy was the son of the late Cyrus Horace and Blanche Dugger McCarter born August 2, 1933 in Big Springs, TN. Mr. McCarter was a U.S. Army Korean and Vietnam War Veteran and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He owned and operated a floor covering business.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Vivian Lois Smith, James Ray McCarter, Cyrus Harley "Junior" McCarter and Bobby Joe McCarter.
Survivors include: his wife of 36 years Sandra Carol Kirk McCarter; children: Rhonda (Larry) Westmoreland, Donna Young both of Bridgeport, AL, Kimberly Brown of Stevenson, Roland (Anita) Chessa of Germany, Gary (Laura) Erskin of LA; step-children: James (Robin) Sampley and Michael Sampley of Stevenson, AL, Kimberly Campbell of Bridgeport; grandchildren: Zachary and Makayla Westmoreland, Tabitha Gilley, Shana and Krystal Brown, Tiffany Mabe, Whitney Sampley, Belle Kirk, Mady and Gunner Sampley, Ashley, Jonathon and Matthew Erskin; great-grandchildren: Landon, Olivia, and Radon Mabe; siblings: Naomi Edmiston, Dorothy Sampley, Benny McCarter; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Monday, 5-9 PM CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport, AL. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 26, at 2 PM CDT in the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Brandon Evans and Rev. Jim Thomas. Military Honors will be provided by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com
