William Wade "Bill" Payne's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of William (Bill) Payne announces his passing at 82 on 12/29/2025.
He retired from the State of Alabama as a Food and Drug Inspector, was a member of the Bridgeport Church of Christ, he served 6 years in the National Guard, 28 years on the Bridgeport Utility Board, one term as a Jackson County Commissioner, and a 50+ year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was proud of his athletic days in school and being awarded the Best Back Award in 1960.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Clara Payne, and one brother Charles Payne.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Fay Payne, his daughters Lori (Chris) Frost, Leah (Clay) Guess, three grandchildren Logan (Kyndall) Cunningham, Holli Guess, Chloe Cunningham and one brother Gary (Mary Faye) Payne.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 2nd from 5-8 PM at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport on Saturday, January 3rd at 12:00 PM officiated by Danny Rader and Randy Smith.
Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Bridgeport.
The family would also like to add a special note of appreciation to Hospice of AL. Specifically Kristie Burt and Sherri Eason.
