Virgil Thomas, 60 of Stevenson, AL, died August 10, 2009 at his home. He had been employed as a chipper operator at Mead Containerboard/Smurfit Stone for 28 years and prior to that at Avondale Mills of 10 years.
William Virgil Thomas was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Dickey "A.D." Thomas, Sr. and Mabel Louise Knight Wimberly; brother Dickey Thomas.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Marilyn Kay Graham Thomas of Stevenson; daughters Sherry Thomas Winters of Stevenson, Christy Davis of Kimball, TN; granddaughter Samantha Evans of Stevenson; grandsons: Darren Evans, Thomas Adcock, Decota Adcock all of Stevenson; great-grandson Jordan Scott Evans of Covington, Ga; brother Charles (Angela) Wimberly and sister Sybil Crawford all of Stevenson.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 10 AM-4 PM CDT followed by the funeral service beginning at 4 PM at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL officiated by Rev. Brad Thomas and Bro. David Marona. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Bridgeport, Alabama.
