Mr. Willie "Vernite" Johnson's Obituary
Willie Vernite Johnson, 65 of Scottsboro, AL passed away peacefully early Monday morning on January 21, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. Vernite was born to Odell Johnson of Scottsboro and the deceased Vernette Johnson of Canton, Ohio.
Vernite was a passionate man who loved the Lord and his family. Throughout his life he was a great inspiration to an infinite number of friends as well as strangers in his community. He continuously strived to help any and everyone he encountered.
Vernite was added to North Houston Street Church of Christ at a very early age. He was rooted and grounded in the Lord. He Believed strongly in the B- I- B- L- E which means the basic instructions before leaving Earth. He remained faithful until the Lord called him home.
Vernite was preceded in death by two brothers; Leroy Johnson and George Barkley; two sisters; Beulah Johnson and Peggy and (Leo) Looney.
Vernite was united in marriage on December 25, 1969 to Margaret Ellison. The two of them had forty-three years of love, happiness, and dedication.
Vernite was a member of the Armed Forces and fought in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army on June 1, 1973. Vernite worked for many years ending his career as an Area Manager at Acordis.
Vernite leaves to cherish his memory a woman of wisdom, his mother, Odell Johnson; a loving and devoted wife, Margaret Johnson; one son who wants to mirror his image, Cleveland Johnson; a beloved daughter-in-law, Marquetta Johnson; three daughters; Shiree McCarver, Esophia Clayborn ; and his baby girl Vernita Johnson; two sisters, Pauline (Carl) Stewart and Rosie Johnson; two brothers William (Emily) Johnson and Walter Dan “Morgan” Johnson; eight grandchildren; Tercell Clayborn, Trent (Tasha) Johnson, Tericka Kelly, DeUntae Johnson, Titus Johnson, Blaiz Johnson, Anyaunna Allen and Jameson Allen; five great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
