Larry Lane Hawkins' Obituary
Larry L. Hawkins, age 87, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, at home. Larry was the son of Marvin and Wahneta Jones Hawkins. He was one of 5 children. Following high school, Larry established a long successful career in the construction industry. He was an accomplished finish carpenter with an eye for detail and a desire for perfection in the finished product. Larry’s talents were quickly recognized, and he progressed in his profession to the position of superintendent, a position he held with various companies throughout his career. Larry was fortunate to meet Jenny Green Bell, the love of his life. They soon married and made a home together in Stevenson, Alabama until her death in 2023.
Larry was a big man with a big cowboy hat and cowboy boots, a ready smile, a great sense of humor, and always a story to tell. An outdoorsman, when not working, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Wahneta and Marvin, wife Jenny, brothers Monte and Kirk, and two sons, Randy and Ricky Hawkins.
His surviving children include Larry Lee Hawkins (Claudia Gilbreath), Debbie Salgueiro, Michelle Hawkins-Roza (Larry), Larrymey Hawkins, Gwendolyn Trina Bell (Petie Rector), and Carl William “Billy” (Sonja) Bell. Grandchildren include Brandon (Selena) Hawkins, Jennifer Hawkins, Justin Salgueiro, Shondi Salgueiro, Daniel Estrada, Korrina Estrada, Colby Kirk, Jessica Kirk (Haley Easterly), Brandon (Samantha) Bell, Crystal (TJ) Schrimsher, Tabitha (James) Smeal, and Kevin (Melissa) Bell. Larry was blessed with numerous great grandchildren.
Other loving family members include sister Annette Fierro, sister Diana Hawkins-Jenks, (Pete), sister-in- law, Carole Hawkins, sister-in- law Barbara Carver, and many nieces and nephews. Larry’s humor and larger than life presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Services will be held on February 2, 2025, under the care of Rudder Funeral Home, 45015 AL 277, Stevenson, Alabama 35772. The family will welcome visitors from 12:30 to 2:00 pm followed by the service at 2:00 pm. Officiant: Robby Donnelly. Interment at Stevenson City Cemetery.
